NEW
MG's for 2011
LONGBRIDGE'S Chinese owners have taken the wraps off a new saloon
car as the rebirth of the Birmingham car factory goes into over
drive.
Shanghai Automotive-owned MG Motor UK unveiled a new five-seater
MG6 saloon, priced £17-20,000, yesterday.
It will go on sale in the UK in July.
The saloon version will be the second volume car produced at
Longbridge as full car manufacturing finally gets under way
again at the factory for the first time in six years.
Pre-production work on the MG6 sports hatchback, Longbridge's
first all new MG for 15 years, is already under way in advance
of a full launch in the spring.
Meanwhile the new saloon will supplement the MG6 and sell for
between £17,000 to £20,000.

MG6 & MG Zero Concept share many similarities.
Full production targets have not been released but the car firm
is looking to produce several thousand vehicles when the assembly
lines are up and running.
A total of 39 UK dealers are already in place whilst MG Motor
UK has also unveiled a new badge and logo in line with the new
production plans.

Chinese
MG to go on Sale in UK

The first new MG sports cars will be made at Longbridge will go
on sale in September. The news comes after more than a year of
delays & a string of problems.
The new Chinese owners og MG - Nanjing Automobile Company (NAC)
unveiled its plans to start production of the MG TF LE 500 roadster
at the beginning of August.
The first cars will be delivered to showrooms by September.
NAC bought the collapsed MG Rover company for £53million
in 2005.
Recently, NAC has been purchased by bigger rival Shanghai Automotive
(SAIC).
In a statement, SAIC said "The commitment planned by MG and
the level of investment underwritten by SAIC will persuade doubters
that the MG brand is
being re-launched with the support to make it successful again".
The new car is a modernised version of the old MG TF that was
one of Britains biggest selling open-topped sports car in the
UK.
Pressings & other body parts will now be made in Chine and
shipped to Longbridge for final assembly. The Chinese are convinced
that
there is a healthy market for the revised cars.

Whilst production will be concentrated at Longbridge, designers
at the company's SMTC facility at Leomington, Warwickshire
are already planning new MG models "That will capture the
essential qualities of the MG brand".
